Chinatown's Best Food

Banawe St. cor. Don Manuel Aggredago St.
Quezon City, Metro Manila
02-712-4249

It's the season for graduates and the other thing that's good about graduation is the celebration afterwards!

It was Kiks' sister's High school graduation from St. Anthony Academy, our same Alma Mater. At first we were planning for Yakimix but since the event was finished passed 8PM we already knew the hassle it would cause us if we're going to have dinner there, you know what i mean, the line of people and all waiting just to have a taste of their buffet ( to which I already had a not so good review ). It was the time when people were still curious about Yakimix that's why it needs reservations. And so we headed for the next best thing, Chinatown's Best Food Buffet at Banawe. Click the highlighted link to visit their website.

Their restaurant offers not only buffet but also Ala carte for those who doesn't want to eat as much as we can! Their menus were over a hundred unlike in Yakimix that were so limited. They have Peking Duck, Garlic Crabs ( my favorite ) and other authentic chinese specialties which for me tasted good. The crabs were the best, and the fact that i have someone to remove the shells for me made me enjoy it even more! =) This restaurant, though it doesn't have smokeless grill like in Yakimix, has a good value for your money and will guarantee satisfied customers.

Operating hours:

SAKAE Sushi

SM City Annex North Edsa
02-332-9139

For Sushi lovers like me, this is the place for you! For only 400Php you can eat as much sushi as you can. You'll be overwhelmed with the different kinds of sushi, sashimi, tempura, etc.. that you will see in the classic "Sushi Train". They come in different colored plates which corresponds to a certain price if you'll go for ala carte. The red plate is 99Php already so i'd say go for the buffet that goes with a free iced tea and miso soup.

To make it more fun, Kiks and I decided to have a bet. The one who has a less number of plates will be the one to pay the bill. Imagine my fear to pay for dinner and so i managed to finish 10 plates while he had 9! We made sure that we ate more of the red plate since it's the most expensive and it has the tempura and california maki. I enjoyed the thrill though, and it's a good thing that their sushi wasn't that bad, but it wasn't the best either.

Banapple Pies and Cheesecakes

225 Katipunan Ave. Blue Ridge
Quezon City, Metro Manila
02-439-2675

Kiks and I got our first bonus from selling our first unit and so we treated my parents for lunch since they were the ones who taught us in this business. I learned this restaurant from my friends and I wanted to share this with them as well. They said it started as a family business and so, upon entering the place it will give you the feeling of just being at your home where you can relax, be yourself, and enjoy their good food.

Lasagna Roll-ups

My mom who loves to cook ordered this one to compare with hers since she always serves us this kind of dish at home. I love my mom's lasagna but I want this more! No offense to my mom but it just tasted better with the right flavors that were complimenting one another. My dad ordered for the Spare ribs, I wasn't able to take pictures of it 'coz he ate it instantly. But I happened to taste it and it's sweet taste was really good.

Trio of sausages Fettucine

Among all the pasta dishes, nothing compares when it comes to my favorite, Carbonara! And Banapple did justice to it! It's creaminess and flavorful taste was really good. The serving size, perfect for my big appetite! =) Kiks went for their chicken dish and what can I say, I'll order it for next time!

Chicken Breast Parmigiano

Banoffee Pie, Apple Caramel Crumble Pie, Blueberry Cheesecake

I'm not a fan of sweets, but I'd say their treats were worthy to share with you guys. The cakes were not too sweet especially the Banoffee pie so even if I was already full by that time, I still enjoyed this. After this, we oredered for 3 pies for take out so we can taste each one of its kind. When we're about to pay, we billed 1200++ for all of it. Banapple offers great food at a reasonable price! And for this, I'll be back here again, no doubt about that! =)

California Pizza Kitchen

3/F, Trinoma Mall, Edsa cor. North Ave.
Quezon City, Metro Manila
02-901-3881

Bonding with friends should be accompanied with treats worth sharing while havin' a good talk. It was one fine evenin' and we're looking for a place to have dinner while we catch up with one another. We were cravin' for pizza and CPK's menu listed outside their place looked good and reasonable... Upon entering the restaurant, the ambiance was really nice and relaxin' with its low lighting and soft music. There were only few people so it was really quiet by that time. One of their staff immediately assisted us with their menu and offered us their fruit shakes to which we had no idea of the price and so we ordered, mine was grapefruit shake..

While we were still deciding on what to order, the drinks were already served to us.. The fruit shakes were really refreshing and tasted natural. And so we ordered for a Pizza and a Pasta dish.

Carbonara with Chicken and Shrimps

All Meat Pizza

When the dishes were served I thought, there must be some mistake coz we ordered for a family sized pizza and a pasta good for sharing... The serving was really small! For me the pasta dish was just good for one, I think I can finish two plates of it coz it really tasted good, it's one of the best I had so far... As for the pizza, it tasted just ok with six slices for a family size! I'd still go for Pizza hut compared to this. After eating, we ordered for a dessert that we can share with..

Apple Crumble Pie with Vanilla Ice cream

It was good enough to cleanse your palate after eating foods rich in flavor.. It wasn't too sweet so you won't be overwhelmed at all. All in all the food was great, if only the serving was enough for its price! I can't believe that we're charged with Php2500++ for all of it. But then, what we really paid for was the company of one another, and for me, it's priceless...

Yakimix Smokeless Grill Restaurant

Eat-all-you-can
4/F Trinoma Mall, EDSA cor. North ave,
Quezon city, Metro Manila
02-8611718

Whenever we go to Trinoma, there is this one spot that’s always full of people. It’s constantly with an endless line of customers patiently waiting for their turn… So out of curiosity, Kiks and I tried Yakimix, a fusion of Japanese and Korean Cuisine.

The Food: It's just ok, what I like about it is the experience of grilling while eating and chatting. For me all the meat with different marinades tasted the same after cooking it...

Their sushi is just average for me. I didn't like it that much but it's ok. All the foods were appealing but I guess it's not something that I will crave for. As for dessert, I enjoyed their popsicles! I think I finished 5 of it!.. Their treats were not too sweet so I really liked it..

Dads, Kamayan, Saisaki Ultimate Buffet

West Ave. Quezon City, Metro Manila
(02) 413-6360

Celebrating special occasions with your loved ones are truly priceless especially when it comes with good food. It was a special day for me so I decided to treat my family to a dinner buffet and we opted for Dads since my dad loves Filipino cuisine, my mom craves for desserts, while Kiks and I were into Italian and Japanese food.

Since it’s not my first time to eat here, I already know what to get from their over 200+ menu, and I’d go for sushi. I love their California maki, it’s very tasty compared to that of Yakimix and other buffets. But, the rest of their sushi just have similar taste.

Another favorite of ours, Shrimp Tempura. We can really pig out on a plate full of this. But, if you want to try everything else then avoid doin' that since a lot of their stuff are really good. I wasn’t able to take pictures of the main course coz we’re really hungry by that time, but as I remembered it they have turkey, lamb, ham, chicken and fish dishes. Their pasta wasn’t that good, it tasted ordinary, I only enjoyed it for the fact that they cook it infront of you with your own choices of sauce and toppings.

The dessert section. By the time you’re about to try it, you’re almost full to enjoy it, but I dunno why I still had the knack to try most of it! I really enjoyed creating my own banana split and mango crepe. Their cakes were just so-so, but there’s this one dessert that I can’t forget, its crème brulee inside an egg shell!

It was nice dining here while their band serenades you with your most requested songs and their staff were all friendly. Drinks were not included in the buffet but if you ordered for one, it goes with a free stuffed toy, mine was a pink star! I guess with 650+ per head it was good enough and for the fact that I crave to eat here again is a positive remark for Dads.
